Live-in Carer for a 80 Year Old Male (Bugibba)

We are seeking a compassionate Home Care Worker to support an elderly client residing in a private apartment in Bugibba, Malta. The client has moderate mobility limitations and requires assistance aligned with his medical needs, daily living activities, and personal preferences.

Client Overview:

• Location: Bugibba, Malta
• Residence: Well-maintained apartment; planned transition to a purpose-built accessible residence
• Mobility: Fair; able to walk short distances with difficulty, uses a motorised wheelchair for extended mobility
• Dietary: Requires a diet suitable for diabetes, hypertension, and gout management
• Communication: Very good communication skills; preferred languages include Maltese and English
• Cognitive: No signs of dementia; may require occasional prompting due to mild memory recall issues
• Emotional: Generally good mood; may experience occasional anxiety related to personal and family circumstances
• Interests: Football, socialising, jigsaw puzzles, card games, and light cooking
• Transportation: Family support available; may use taxis when accompanied
• Pets: No pets present in the household
• Family: Close-knit family with active involvement; lives with spouse who has early signs of dementia

Responsibilities:

• Assist with personal care and daily living activities (grooming, bathing support, mobility assistance)
• Prepare meals in line with medical dietary requirements
• Provide support with mobility and safe transfers as needed
• Offer companionship and emotional reassurance
• Support engagement in hobbies and social activities
• Monitor general wellbeing and assist with medication routines if required
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the living environment
• Accompany client to appointments or outings when required

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience supporting elderly clients with chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension
• Ability to assist with reduced mobility and use of mobility aids
• Compassionate, patient, and attentive approach
• Strong communication skills in Maltese and/or English
• Ability to provide emotional support and reassurance

• Private apartment, well-maintained, with future transition to a purpose-built accessible residence
